Since their debut EP Sixtape in 2014, Baltimore-based duo Blacksage has been possessing listeners with the devastating coo of singer Josephine Olivia and the bass heavy beats of producer Drew Scott. Melting gothic-tinged elements of modern R&B and 90s trip-hop with old-fashioned pop, their 2015 full-length Basement Vows expanded on this dynamic. Their second full-length 'Shivers,' released in 2016 via Friends Records, was described as dark, sexy, and devastating. “It’s a bleak setting, but there’s inherent beauty in it,” wrote Brandon Weigel of Baltimore City Paper.

Josephine Olivia relocated to New York City in 2017, and has been performing the act solo, alongside bands such as True Widow, Zola Jesus and Celebration, and collaborating with members of Future Islands. A versitile artist, she's played festivals from Hopscotch (NC) alongside Solange, Beach house, Youth Code, Run the Jewels, Angel Olsen, Future Islands, and Sylvan Esso, and Damaged City Festival (DC) with Turnstile, Radioactivity, Wildhoney, LOTION, and Limp Wrist.  Blacksage has been asked to support Peter Murphy of Bauhaus in his month long residency in San Francisco this July. Josephine Olivia is collaborating with Owen Ross and Dave Sitek (TV on the Radio) for a forthcoming album, expected later this year.
